Bell-issimo Christmas Bell Concert

Sunday, December 09
Show | 4pm // Doors | 3pm

Bell-issimo had its inception the summer of 2002 to perform programs and concerts in and around the
community. Nancy Youngman, Director, assembled bell ringers who were passionate about handbells,
had solid musical ability, and were generous about allocations of their time. Most charter members were
also members of two local church handbell choirs: Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and St. Marks United
Methodist Church – where Nancy is the director of both, and had firsthand knowledge of the ringers’
capabilities. Eventually, other musicians voiced an interest in playing with the group and the group
evolved to its present incarnation of an auditioned choir, with auditions being held annually in August.
This year’s ringers represent eight churches from the Lincoln area.
Bell-issimo was featured as a Showcase Choir at the Area 8 Handbell Festival in Council Bluffs. They
joined the Lincoln Community Concert Band for a Mannheim Steamroller Christmas concert three years
ago, and for the past two years have been a part of Lincoln’s community-wide Veterans’ Day program at
the Church of Latter Day Saints. In 2014, Bell-issimo presented a Pops Concert of favorites through the
years at Vega, Lincoln’s musical hot spot; a return engagement is planned at Vega in the spring of 2017.
The choir was honored to be asked to participate as special guests of the Christmas Extravaganza in
Bossier City, Louisiana in December 2015, playing with a professional orchestra and performing several
solo pieces as well. Concerts last spring featured string players with the bell choir, entitled “With Strings
Attached”! Anyone interested in playing with Bell-issimo or scheduling a concert should contact Nancy
